How to laugh through life's Dark Corners: a Dark Humor blog of life

The Ups and Downs of life

Life comes at you fast, sometimes its great and sometimes its god awful. Well, here we will be laughing at the god awful things that happen and try to make them as funny as possible.

We all know life isn’t easy, the hardest thing to do is to live through the pains and do what T-Swift says; Just shake it off.

Please enjoy the blogs posted below and have fun laughing at my pain!

Medical insurance is Stupid but my Dentist is Dope

I do not go to the doctor’s office too often. My primary doctor is chill as hell. I ride motorcycles with him, gone out for beers with him, but he has only seen me in his office about 5 times in the last 10 years. Now, how often do you think I see a dentist or an eye doctor? If you answered never, you are correct.

Now, I don’t go to these things because I hate the process of how all doctors’ offices work. Making an appointment, you usually have to deal with a rude receptionist, and they ask so many questions. Then once you’re there, it doesn’t matter how many times you go, you always have to fill out a new form or an updated form or have to give your insurance again. Why can’t they just have a medical system where all this information is stored? Like a medical DMV. So no matter what doctor I go to, they have my information on file? SOMEONE MAKE THIS A THING!

Now, this is the thing that really pisses me off: I’m going to see my doctor, not the nurse. Why do I have to sit with the nurse for 30 minutes, and the doctor comes in for less than 5 minutes?! It doesn’t matter what doctor it is. You ALWAYS spend the majority of time in the waiting room and then with nurses. This is stupid. I have lost my patience before with my tumor doctor (he no longer sees me πŸ™‚ ) and cursed him out because of this practice of seeing the majority of nurses and not the doctor.

Now from there, we deal with the insurance companies. I pay into my insurance every week and rarely ever use it. If we did a cost breakdown of how much I have paid vs how much I have used, I am nowhere near what I should be. I am on no medications. I have little to no visits to the doctors. I can never meet my deductible because I don’t go to doctors’ offices. I am trying to get better at this and get myself into a habit of going, but I hate going and dealing with all the bullshit.

The other thing that is infuriating is who decided that dental and vision are not medical? Who decided to split all of these things? I pay for all of them because of the “what if” scenarios in life, but this is one of the greatest scams of all time. I need different insurance cards for different things. Just put them into one. Why is that not a thing?

For the first time in probably a decade, I decided to go get my teeth checked out. The last time I went to get them checked, the Avengers still hadn’t teamed up yet. Christian Bale was still the Dark Knight. Safe to say it was way overdue. Well, I went for a quick cleaning and checkup of my teeth, and minus a few cavities, everything looks good. I have never had a filling in my life, so I don’t know how long they take to get done. So I asked to take care of them all last night. Bro, I was at the dentist for almost 4 hours. I walked into the office; it was bright and sunny outside. When I left, it was dark and dreary, feeling like Freddy Krueger was about to come get me.

But even though it took a long while to get them done, the doctor was chill as hell. Trying to talk to me about motorcycles even though he knows nothing about them. The office staff praised him very highly. They told me I will never need another filling after dealing with him because he is that good. I guess only time will tell on that one, but he was a chill doctor. But sadly, insurance sucks, and I still had to pay $400 out of pocket for everything.

Adulting is not a fun thing. My parents have always said that when you start having multiple doctors’ visits in a week, that’s when life starts going to hell. Guess we will find out how good the music is down there pretty soon! Rock on!
