Disney Adults are not Normal

I am a big believer in staying a kid and acting as childish as possible when you get older in life, but man, Disney Adults take it to a different level. There is one thing acting like a kid and joking around and doing fun things that people in your age group don’t typically do, but Disney adults? That is a weird line to cross.

It’s strange to me because these people plan one vacation a year, and it’s to a children’s amusement park. Now, yes, there is a lot to do there for adults with no kids, and being nerds, but going every year is just something I don’t get. In my job, I have several customers and even my boss who are part of the Disney Vacation Club (DVC). You rarely see a group of grown men in their 50s and 60s so excited to talk about things other than sports or women. They talk about this DVC so differently too. Some talk about it like, “Oh, I can make a lot of money renting this as a timeshare,” but usually, none of these people do that. They all talk about going down there and about the different restaurants and bars. Why fly all the way to Florida to pay extra money to get into Disney and the parks, just to eat and drink? It’s just a crazy concept to me. You can travel the world every year and go somewhere new, but you’re just so stuck in the magical world of the mouse.

I know so many people my age, in their late 20s to mid-30s, who do this too. They go to Disney for a week every year. No kids, no friends, just them and their significant other. Personally, I am trying to see as much of this world as possible. Not just the fake bullshit that a Nazi sympathizer created in the world over 100 years ago.

Now don’t get me wrong, I do want to go to Disney with the crew and have a great time. I want to go drink around the world in Epcot, I want to go build my own lightsaber in the Star Wars world, and go grab some butter beers in Harry Potter world. But like, I don’t want to do that every year? I want to go once, have a great time with the squad that comes with me, and then the following year’s vacation go somewhere completely different.

Why is it when you insult an adult Disneygoer, it’s like you are attacking a fandom of people you did not know existed? I have probably been in as many arguments with them as I have over sports in the last 5 years. They are absolutely insane people.

I don’t know what that mouse does to them once they go. But for some reason, people with no kids tend to want to go back over and over again. It’s lunacy to me, but then again, a lot of things don’t make sense to me in the world right now (read this, and you’ll get it).
